Emily has suffered from mental illness since she was a child and after fighting for two years she will die from doctor assisted suicide with a lethal injection.
Her mental suffering has led to her repeatedly self harming , trying to kill herself and being committed to a psychiatric clinic.
She lives in Belgium which has a liberal policy when it comes to euthanasia allowing not just those with terminal physical illness but with mental illness to opt for death over life.
Emily has been granted that right.
for Emily? In the end she didn't go through with it - just because she had been granted the right to die it didn't mean she had to take it.
She said: "I said calmly 'I can't do it'. Because the two previous weeks were relatively bearable. They were free from crises.
"I've tried not think about the truth because I'd still rather not be here so I'm holding my breath for the future."
